With all the issues our district had with beetles and drought, we feared few roses would adorn our fall rose show. That was not the case. We had loads and loads of beautiful flowers. A testament to the dedication and talent of our district members. WELL DONE!! The roses were a sight to behold!

Joel Anderson, IL IN Consulting Rosarian Chairman, presents the award to John.
Tom Bolden and Frank De Vries both received the distinction of being Master Rosarians for their years of excellent service to rose education and promotion. Well done Tom and Frank!
Dr. David Zlesak educated us and entertained us and made us all glad to be a part of the exciting world of roses. We learned about the important work of the NATIONAL CLEAN PLANT NETWORK and he brought us up to date on his rose breeding program. A program that he has been working on for 25 years. This year he is seeing some exciting results as he has 4 new roses being released. Three from Star Roses and Plants as the Pretty Polly series:
PRETTY POLLY PINK
PRETTY POLLY LAVENDER
PRETTY POLLY WHITE
Quote from John Pais on David’s presentations:
“One of the most informative and entertaining presentations on rose diseases I’ve ever heard was given at this past district meeting. Making it worth the long drive.”

One of the most talented arrangers in the ARS and one of our greatest teachers, Andy Plasz, gave a fun and info filled demonstration. He brought so many great tips and arranging material for us to take home. He encouraged us to look around our gardens for interesting foliage and branches to add to our arrangements. We had fun and we will be better arrangers for his help! Thank you to Gary Barlow for allowing Andy to share some of the helpful handouts the great arrangers Gary and Lew Shupe had put together.
